This step-by-step guide outlines the process of acquiring a digital nomad visa for Brazil, emphasizing key actions and considerations at each stage of the application process.

Please note all documents received must be in Portuguese or English, otherwise it will be necessary to get an official translation. In addition, Digital nomads with nationalities that requires a visa or those with a visa exempt nationality (ie. Finnish) who wish to stay longer than 90 days may request a digital nomad visa.

Eligibility Check

Ensure you meet the criteria set by the National Immigration Council. This includes:

  • Prove your employment status. Provide a work contract that states that you either are self-employed or are eligible to work remotely for a foreign company outside of Brazil; and

  • Prove the required monthly income. The minimum required monthly income amount for a Brazilian digital nomad visa is around €1,500; or

  • Prove the required amount at the moment of the application. You can also provide a statement that you have around €17,000 at the time of your application.

Fill out Online Application

  • Access the MigranteWeb System provided by the Ministry of Justice.

  • Fill in the required information accurately and completely in black or blue ink. You must fill out the form online, print out a copy, and sign it. Although the application for the Brazilian digital nomad visa can be filled online through the government website, ultimately, the application must be submitted physically to your nearest Brazilian consulate.

  • Upload all necessary documents outlined in the application form.

Gather Required Documents

  • Valid passport which must have two blank pages for the visa stamp

  • Work or service contracts with a foreign employer

  • Financial proof includes bank statements or payment slips

  • One recent 5x7 photo on a white background. We use the tool MakePassportPhoto to make sure our photos are up to par.

  • Proof of Travel Insurance, including medical insurance.

  • Criminal Records (if applicable)

Application Submission and Payment

  • Complete the electronic application form on the MigranteWeb System

  • Print and sign the form within the designated area

  • Submit the completed application along with the necessary documents to your nearest Brazilian Embassy or Consulate

  • Pay the consular fee (after verification of the application) which is currently €120 as of Nov 2023

Await Processing

  • Wait for the Consular Section to process your application.

  • Processing time typically takes up to 5 working days after document verification and fee payment.

  • Do not commit to travel plans until your visa is granted.

Receive and Use the E-Visa

  • Upon approval, you will receive the e-visa.

  • Use the received e-visa for your intended stay and activities in Brazil.

  • Register with the Federal Police within 90 days from your first entry (if applicable).
